Celebrating Mt Magnet in the National Rock Garden, Canberra

Brad Pillans bio

Brad is a geologist who turned a childhood love of rocks and minerals into a career. He is a Professor of Earth Sciences at the Australian National University and a Director of the National Rock Garden, which is currently under development in Canberra (www.nationalrockgarden.org.au). As well as rocks, Brad also loves Australian native plants and his home garden featured on the ABC TV program, Gardening Australia, earlier this year (http://www.abc.net.au/gardening/factsheets/on-rocky-ground/9579980)

In his talk, ‘Celebrating Mount Magnet in the National Rock Garden’, Brad will reveal the stories behind some of the iconic rocks that are either already on display or are on his ‘shopping list’, including a special group of Mount Magnet rocks that will occupy a prominent space in the garden.
